Located at what is now 8151 Hant Hollow Road in Rockvale, Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church was organized in 1800 by settlers from North Carolina under the leadership of Pastor Marion Landrum. As one of the early churches in Rutherford County, Mt. Pleasant started out in a unique log structure that had 12 corners, each representing an apostle. It was replaced 67 years later by a frame building. Eventually, the congregation split into two groups — United or Primitive Baptists and Missionary Baptists.
