Fanciful Foxes - UT Gardens Art Exhibit 2023

Jul 14, 2023

On Friday, July 7, the University of Tennessee celebrated the opening of their 2023 Art in the Gardens display: Fanciful Foxes. Forty local artists set out on a mission to design 3-D fox cutouts to place throughout the UT Gardens in hopes of raising awareness for habitat protection for wildlife in the face of urban development. This fun and imaginative display is also a fundraiser used to support the UT Gardens and its mission to “be a community resource for education, research and outreach on environmental stewardship, plant evaluation and landscape aesthetics.”

This project has been around for the past six years. Its main focus is to encourage participation and collaboration between the UT Gardens and the Knoxville community and artists. In the past, they have highlighted hummingbirds, butterflies, dogwoods, birdhouses, and bees. In 2022, they introduced a concurrent kid’s exhibit to go along with the art exhibit, which they will be bringing back again this year.

This exhibit is free and open to the public. The address for UT Gardens, Knoxville is 2518 Jacob Dr., Knoxville, TN 37996. In addition, an auction will be held in late September for all the adult and children’s pieces on display and all proceeds will go to the UT Gardens, Knoxville.
